IN SINC: ALL OR NOTHING – CAM SINCLAIR

AFTER A NEAR FATAL INJURY IN 2009, CAM SINCLAIR HEADS TO THE STATES WITH HIS SIGHTS SET ON DEFENDING X-GAMES GOLD.

Australian X Games gold medalist Cam Sinclair has left Australian soil for the USA, in preparation for an attempted defence of his crown in Los Angeles this July.

The 27-year-old from Pearcedale, in Victoria, will spend the next eight weeks preparing to once again take on the world of action sports at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. X Games 17 kicks off on July 27, where Sinclair’s event ‘Best Trick’ will be held in the home of the LA Lakers, the ‘Staples Center’ on the 29th.

Last year, Sinclair took an emotional victory landing a double backflip, only a year after he suffered near fatal injuries attempting the same stunt in Madrid, Spain. His achievement completed what was arguably one the most amazing comebacks in sport and was somewhat a fairytale for Sinclair and his family and friends.

In 2011, Sinclair will once again take to the biggest stage in action sports and attempt to make history, however his final plans for the event have not yet been revealed.

“I’ve been working on a few different combinations for X Games this year,” says Sinclair. “Last year I actually had a different trick to combine with the double backflip that I never had to pull out on the night – this year I’m expecting to have to give it everything I have to win.”

To aid in his preparation for the X Games, Sinclair was a part of the hugely popular ‘Nitro Circus LIVE’ show. Sinclair and a range of action sports stars have completed multiple successful shows and events throughout 2010 and 2011, throughout Australia and New Zealand to sell out crowds. With this successful Las Vegas appearance under his belt, Sinclair will knuckle down and focus heavily on X Games, where perfect execution is paramount.

“I plan on spending all my time in the US preparing for X Games,” explains Sinclair. “It will give me a good opportunity to catch up with some of my major sponsors, but more than anything I’ll be practicing and spending the most of my time jumping into a foam pit in the heat and trying to get my trick perfect – it’s all part of the job!”
